The US Department of Education has awarded $9.4 million to 16 Indian universities to help improve the dental health of the young population.
The dentists who will receive the money are from the University of Southern California, California State University, Los Angeles and the University.
The dental hygiene program will also assist in the education of young people who are not dentists.
Dr Satish Khera, chairperson of the dental school board in the state of California, said the dentists will help fill in gaps in dental health.
“The funding will be used to assist the dentistry students in improving the health of their teeth and improving their oral health,” he said.
The funds will help improve oral health, provide preventive dental care and improve oral hygiene among other things.
