By now you’ve probably noticed that a lot of people have had their hair or face hair cut in a weird or unusual way.
We’re talking about the scalp, eyebrows, and even eyelashes, all of which have been cut with scissors, or have been pulled apart with a razor.
But what if there was a way to get rid of those unwanted bits without leaving behind a mess?
The answer is: it’s called keratin.
In the US, it’s a type of protein found in hair and fingernails, which are cut and styled using a razor blade.
But in Spain, it was also the subject of an experiment in 2011.
It involved a group of students at the University of Granada, who cut their hair and then styled it using a specially designed gel made from keratin that was then injected into their faces.
They found that the gel, called KEG, made people’s skin appear softer, which was thought to be the result of the keratin removing dead skin cells, giving them more coverage, and it also helped to repair the area where hair was cut.
“We found that after one week of using the KEG gel, we had more skin in our cheeks, neck and neck than before we used the keratins, and that was a positive result,” said José Carlos Garcia, a professor of dermatology at the university.
But there was one thing that was missing: hair that was still intact.
“The results are quite disappointing,” said Garcia.
“But it’s possible that we could be able to achieve a very good result with this method.”
According to the study, the gel was able to heal skin that was already damaged.
But the researchers didn’t know how long the results would last.
And while there’s no proof that the KAG gel was actually the solution to hair loss, Garcia said that the results could be replicated with different types of keratin gel.
“I’m not sure how much longer we can get this technology,” he said.
The scientists are now working on another technique that could be applied to hair, and perhaps to the scalp.
“This is an exciting project,” Garcia said.
“If we can do it with the gel in our skin, it could also be applied directly to the hair follicles, which could be a new way to treat hair loss.”
